Playing hide and seek: Tumor cells in control of MHC class I antigen presentation
نویسندگان
چکیده
MHC class I (MHC-I) molecules present a blueprint of the intracellular proteome to T cells allowing them control infection or malignant transformation. As response, pathogens and tumor often downmodulate MHC-I mediated antigen presentation escape from immune surveillance. Although fundamental rules are known in detail, players this system not saturated new modules regulation have recently been uncovered. Here, we update understanding by how can be exploited tumors prevent exposure proteome. This knowledge provide ways improve responses against pathogens.

Playing Hide-and-Seek with Yeast
I like to think of the late 80s and early 90s as extremely exciting times in my career. I was working as a visiting graduate student in Rick Gaber’s laboratory at Northwestern University, and some of the work I did during those years turned out to be seminal for the then-fledgling field of epigenetics. Together with other scientists, I provided long-awaited in vivo functional evidence for a mod...
متن کاملPlaying "Hide and Seek" with Stored Keys
In this paper we consider the problem of efficiently locating cryptographic keys hidden in gigabytes of data, such as the complete file system of a typical PC. We describe efficient algebraic attacks which can locate secret RSA keys in long bit strings, and more general statistical attacks which can find arbitrary cryptographic keys embedded in large programs. These techniques can be used to ap...
متن کاملMHC class I antigen presentation--recently trimmed and well presented.
Presentation of antigenic peptide to T cells by major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules is the key to the cellular immune response. Non-self intracellular proteins are processed into short peptides and transported into endoplasmic reticulum (ER) where they are assembled with class I molecules assisted by several chaperone proteins to form trimeric complex. MHC class I complex l...
متن کاملMajor Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) Class I and MHC Class II Proteins: Conformational Plasticity in Antigen Presentation
Antigen presentation by major histocompatibility complex (MHC) proteins is essential for adaptive immunity. Prior to presentation, peptides need to be generated from proteins that are either produced by the cell's own translational machinery or that are funneled into the endo-lysosomal vesicular system. The prolonged interaction between a T cell receptor and specific pMHC complexes, after an ex...
متن کاملHuman Neonatal Dendritic Cells Are Competent in MHC Class I Antigen Processing and Presentation
Neonates are clearly more susceptible to severe disease following infection with a variety of pathogens than are adults. However, the causes for this are unclear and are often attributed to immunological immaturity. While several aspects of immunity differ between adults and neonates, the capacity of dendritic cells in neonates to process and present antigen to CD8+ T cells remains to be addres...
